I am not really sure about it but they specifically say EAs are not allowed. So there must be a way for them to find out. Thats what I also want to know for sure.

 

Actually many do, but algos that take many trades that open and close in seconds is a no. Obviously that they can tell.

 

Just read the FAQ on the prop you want to use. It will say

Hi, I think a prop firm has different ways to see if you are manually trading your strategy or you are using an EA or a signal service.
For example the can detect if:
1) if there are multiple traders having the exact trades (entries/exits/contracts/assets). Especially if it is an EA that a significant amount of people are using with the same settings. That is why sharing settings with others has a risk.
2) you are high frequency trading (lots of trades quickly in and out the market in a short amount of time)
3) in the log it show through a code if a trade was performed by automation or manual (algo can pick this up)

Yes, but that wouldn't solve point #1...meaning you would have to create your own profitable settings and not sharing it with the public (even if people ask very nicely )
